European Domain Market Shifts: Cloudflare and Hostinger Gain Ground on GoDaddy and IONOS
A new chart from ShareShift shows the top 20 domain registrars for European ccTLDs. Cloudflare leads growth with a 0.64 percentage point gain, while GoDaddy and IONOS lose ground. Hostinger is the second fastest grower.
A new market share chart from ShareShift, published by Domain Name Wire, reveals the top 20 domain registrars for European country code top-level domains (ccTLDs) as of June 2026. The data tracks installed base share and three-month share changes for the largest providers across the region.
United Internet AG, parent of IONOS and Strato, holds a combined share of roughly 17 percent across its brands. IONOS alone accounts for 8.2 percent of all European ccTLD domains, making it the single largest provider in the region.
Cloudflare and Hostinger Lead Growth
Cloudflare Inc. posted the biggest share gain of any provider, adding 0.64 percentage points over three months to reach 5.5 percent. The company is not a traditional registrar but drives growth through its content delivery network and DNS services. Hostinger added 0.10 points to reach 1.4 percent, making it the second fastest growing provider in Europe.
- GoDaddy Group holds 7.3 percent share but lost 0.21 points, declining faster than the overall market.
- OVH Group controls 3.5 percent of the market, with one third of all French ccTLD domains.
- Group.one, parent of One.com, holds 2.0 percent and dominates Scandinavia.
- Team.blue brands TransIP and Loopia each control 1.0 percent and 0.9 percent respectively, with Loopia holding one third of the Swedish market.
- Infomaniak, a Swiss challenger, grew 0.02 points to 0.9 percent.
Implications for the Domain Industry
The European ccTLD market differs from the global .com market in that local providers and country-specific brands dominate. United Internet AG operates 12 brands in the top 20, including SedoParking at 1.6 percent and Fasthosts at 0.9 percent. The data shows that while GoDaddy is losing share, Cloudflare and Hostinger are gaining, reflecting a shift toward infrastructure and hosting providers rather than traditional registrars.
Separately, the domain Deep.ai sold for $118,216 via Escrow.com, with broker Robin Hablani handling the buyer side. The deal was originally agreed in 2023 through DAN and finalized through Escrow. The sale highlights continued demand for .ai domains, which have grown in popularity alongside the AI industry.
For domain investors and registrars, the European market remains fragmented, with no single provider holding more than 8.2 percent share. The trend toward infrastructure providers like Cloudflare and hosting companies like Hostinger suggests that traditional registrar models may need to adapt to maintain growth.
