RFC 1250, “IAB Official Protocol Standards”, is a Historic document published in August 1991 by J. Postel. It obsoletes RFC 1200. It has been obsoleted by RFC 1280, RFC 2200 — refer to the newer document for the authoritative version. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This memo describes the state of standardization of protocols used in the Internet as determined by the Internet Activities Board (IAB). This memo provides information for the Internet community. It does not specify an Internet standard.

A specification that has been superseded or is otherwise no longer recommended for use.
