Internet Official Protocol Standards
RFC 2200, “Internet Official Protocol Standards”, is a Historic document published in June 1997 by J. Postel. It obsoletes RFC 1250, RFC 2000. It has been obsoleted by RFC 2300 — refer to the newer document for the authoritative version. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
A discussion of the standardization process and the RFC document series is presented first, followed by an explanation of the terms. Sections 6.2 - 6.10 contain the lists of protocols in each stage of standardization. Finally are pointers to references and contacts for further information. [STANDARDS-TRACK]

A specification that has been superseded or is otherwise no longer recommended for use.
