Telepathy Sells Trigonal.com After 25-Year Hold; Polymarket Typo Domain Scam Exposed
Telepathy Inc. sold Trigonal.com after 25 years, highlighting the value of aged .com domains. Meanwhile, Polymarket used a typo domain to trick consumers, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
Telepathy Inc., the premium domain portfolio company founded by Nat Cohen, has sold Trigonal.com after holding the domain for 25 years. The domain, registered in 2001, now resolves to a lander indicating acquisition by another domain investor. The sale price was not disclosed.
Trigonal.com, a single-word .com with geometric and scientific meaning, was held by Telepathy since its registration in 2001. The word “trigonal” refers to a three-sided or triangular form, giving it brandable potential across technology, science, materials, analytics, and design verticals.
Domain Registrars Used by Top AI Companies
A separate analysis by DomainInvesting.com examined the domain registrars used by leading AI companies. The study, prompted by a DomainIQ alert, found that many top AI firms rely on a mix of major registrars for their primary domains. The findings underscore the importance of registrar choice for brand protection and uptime.
- OpenAI uses MarkMonitor for its primary domain.
- Anthropic uses CSC Global.
- Google uses its own registrar, Google Domains.
- Microsoft uses MarkMonitor for its primary domains.
- Meta uses CSC Global for its domain portfolio.
Polymarket Typo Domain Scam
In a separate development, the Wall Street Journal reported that betting platform Polymarket used a typo domain to trick consumers. The platform created a fake site to help influencers fake wins on its real site. The story highlighted how George Makihara appeared to have a lucrative side hustle, but the wins were fabricated using the deceptive domain.
The typo domain, which closely resembles Polymarket's legitimate domain, was used to create fake winning screenshots. This practice undermines trust in the platform and raises questions about domain abuse in the betting industry. Polymarket has not commented on the report.
These events highlight the dual nature of domain transactions: legitimate sales of aged assets like Trigonal.com and deceptive practices like typo domain scams. As the domain market evolves, investors and consumers must remain vigilant.
