RFC 1994, “PPP Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol”, is a Draft Standard document published in August 1996 by W. Simpson. It obsoletes RFC 1334. It has since been updated by RFC 2484. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This document defines a method for Authentication using PPP, which uses a random Challenge, with a cryptographically hashed Response which depends upon the Challenge and a secret key. [STANDARDS-TRACK]
