RFC 1997, “BGP Communities Attribute”, is a Proposed Standard document published in August 1996 by R. Chandra, P. Traina, T. Li. It has since been updated by RFC 7606, RFC 8642. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This document describes an extension to BGP which may be used to pass additional information to both neighboring and remote BGP peers. [STANDARDS-TRACK]
