RFC 1543, “Instructions to RFC Authors”, is an Informational document published in October 1993 by J. Postel. It obsoletes RFC 825, RFC 1111. It has been obsoleted by RFC 2223 — refer to the newer document for the authoritative version. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This Request for Comments (RFC) provides information about the preparation of RFCs, and certain policies relating to the publication of RFCs. This memo provides information for the Internet community. This memo does not specify an Internet standard of any kind.

Published for the general information of the community. It does not define an IETF standard and carries no standards-track status.
