About Uberspace
Uberspace is a unique German hosting provider that operates on a pay-what-you-want pricing model. Founded in 2011, they offer Linux-based shared hosting with full SSH access, custom ports, and the ability to run background processes, something most shared hosts explicitly forbid.
Each account gets a CentOS or Rocky Linux environment where you can install and run nearly anything: Node.js, Python, Ruby, PHP, Go, Rust, Java, or any language that compiles on Linux. You get a dedicated IPv6 address, Let's Encrypt SSL, and their excellent manual (written in both German and English) covers everything from basics to advanced setups.
The pay-what-you-want model (minimum 1 EUR/month) is not a gimmick. It is central to their philosophy of making hosting accessible. Uberspace has a cult following among German developers and students.
