The .lawyer domain is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) for individual lawyers, law firms, and legal professionals. It is owned and operated by Dog Beach, LLC, a subsidiary of Identity Digital. The domain was originally delegated in 2014 to United TLD Holdco, Ltd before being transferred to its current operator in 2021. There are no tight registration restrictions beyond general eligibility for anyone working in or associated with the legal profession, though registrants may need to demonstrate bona fide legal practice if challenged. The domain provides a clear signal to clients that a site belongs to a legal practitioner. It is one of several profession-specific TLDs introduced during the new gTLD expansion.

The .lawyer TLD was delegated to the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) in May 2014 as part of ICANN's new gTLD program. Its original sponsoring organization was United TLD Holdco, Ltd. In June 2021, control was transferred to Dog Beach, LLC, which now administers the namespace under the Identity Digital umbrella.
