.joy is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) operated by Amazon Registry Services, Inc. It was delegated to Amazon in late 2015 and is intended for general use, with no publicly listed eligibility restrictions. The registry services and technical backend are handled by Nominet, the .uk registry, based in Oxford. Amazon has not widely marketed .joy, and it remains a relatively niche namespace, often used for branded campaigns or happy, celebratory sites. Because the domain falls under Amazon's control, registrants must go through accredited registrars listed on the official nic.joy site. There is no requirement to be an Amazon customer to register a .joy name, though the company reserves certain names under its own brand protection policies.

Amazon applied for .joy during ICANN's new gTLD program and secured the string after a brief community comment period with no major objections. The delegation was completed on December 2, 2015.
