.docs is a generic top-level domain managed by Charleston Road Registry Inc., which is a Google affiliate. It is designed for use with document related content and applications. There are no specific eligibility restrictions, so anyone can register a .docs domain. The domain operates under the oversight of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) as part of the new gTLD program. The registry has been active since its delegation in December 2014, with the original contract signed in November of that year.
