About .cancerresearch
.cancerresearch is a now revoked generic top-level domain (gTLD) that was originally intended for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation (ACRF) to host materials related to cancer research. ACRF was the designated sponsor behind its 2014 delegation. The domain was never open for public registration; its use was limited to the sponsor's mission. As of October 2022, .cancerresearch no longer appears in the DNS root zone, meaning no websites can be hosted under it. The TLD's revival would require a new application and approval from ICANN.
History
Delegated to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation on June 25, 2014, .cancerresearch was revoked just over eight years later, on October 6, 2022. Its removal makes it one of the few gTLDs to be fully decommissioned.
Eligibility & restrictions
Use was restricted to the Australian Cancer Research Foundation and its authorized partners. Not open to the general public.
