Dot hu is the country code TLD for Hungary. It is managed by the Council of Hungarian Internet Providers, known as CHIP, which is based in Budapest. Registration is generally open to anyone, but a local administrative contact has historically been required. Most second level domains follow the standard open registration model. The .hu domain started operating in the early 1990s and was one of the first country code domains established in Central Europe. It remains widely used by Hungarian businesses, organizations, and individuals.
