The .htc domain extension was created for HTC Corporation, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer. It is a generic top-level domain originally intended for brand-related use. The registry was operated by HTC, with no sponsoring organization assigned from the traditional oversight bodies. The domain was delegated in March 2016 but never made it into the root zone. By October 2017, less than two years after its initial approval, the .htc domain was revoked.
