The .meo domain extension was a generic top level domain originally delegated to PT Comunicacoes S.A., a Portuguese telecommunications company. MEO is a well known brand in Portugal offering internet, television, and phone services. The TLD was intended for use by that company and its customers, operating as a branded domain space. However, .meo was never added to the root zone of the internet, meaning it was never actually usable online. The domain was delegated in October 2015 but the delegation was revoked by IANA in May 2018, just two and a half years later. The record was last updated that same month, and no sponsor or registry operator is currently assigned.
