.country is a generic top-level domain that anyone can register. It is not a country code despite its name. Internet Naming Co. based in the Cayman Islands runs it. There are no special eligibility rules. You can register .country domains on a first come first served basis. The domain was first delegated in March 2014 to Top Level Domain Holdings Limited. Internet Naming Co. acquired it in November 2022. It works like other new gTLDs from the 2012 expansion. The registry uses Tucows as its backend provider. The WHOIS server is whois.tucowsregistry.net. This is a general purpose namespace with no geographic or community restrictions.

History
