.comsec
genericVeriSign, Inc.
.comsec is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) operated by VeriSign, Inc., a well known registry services company based in Reston, Virginia. The domain is intended for use by the cybersecurity and communications security community. There are no publicly stated eligibility restrictions for registration, which means it is open to general registrants. VeriSign was delegated the .comsec domain by ICANN in November 2015, and the registry was formally registered on October 8 of that year. The TLD uses VeriSign's shared registration system and its WHOIS and RDAP services are provided through VeriSign's standard infrastructure.
History
VeriSign first applied for .comsec during ICANN's new gTLD program. The string was seen as a natural fit for a company that already manages a large share of the internet's domain infrastructure, including .com and .net. The delegation came through in late 2015, with the first domains going live soon after.
