.audible
genericaudible
.audible is a generic top-level domain (gTLD) operated by Amazon Registry Services, a subsidiary of Amazon. The TLD is a brand domain meant for use by Amazon and its affiliates, particularly for the Audible audiobook and spoken-word entertainment service. Because of its nature as a brand TLD, registration is restricted to the trademark holder and its authorized entities. Amazon applied for .audible through ICANN's New gTLD Program, securing the domain as a closed, exclusive namespace. The goal was to create a dedicated web address for Audible's digital content and services without opening the domain to public registration.
History
Amazon submitted the application for .audible in 2012 under ICANN's gTLD expansion. ICANN delegated the domain to Amazon Registry Services in June 2016, after a multiyear evaluation. The domain's registry is backed by Nominet, which provides the technical backend and RDAP services.
Eligibility and restrictions
Closed brand TLD. Only Amazon and its affiliates can register domains. No public registrations.
