It is operated by Amazon Registry Services, Inc., which manages the domain on behalf of Amazon. The domain is restricted to use by Amazon and its affiliates for purposes related to the IMDB brand. It delegates technical operations to Nominet as the backend registry provider. The domain was delegated in June 2016, following Amazon's acquisition of IMDB in 1998.
