Meta Launches $299 Smart Glasses Under Its Own Brand, Drops Ray-Ban Name
Meta has launched its first smart glasses without Ray-Ban branding, starting at $299. The Adventurer and Fury models match Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 specs but cost $60 less. A $59 charging stand and AI updates accompany the launch.
Meta has launched its first smart glasses without the Ray-Ban name, introducing the Adventurer and Fury models at $299 each. The devices, announced on June 23, 2026, retain EssilorLuxottica as a design and manufacturing partner but drop the licensing premium that pushed Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 glasses to $359.
The internal hardware matches the Ray-Ban Meta Optics Styles released in March 2026, including the same camera module and slightly longer battery life than earlier Ray-Ban Meta models. Meta says the camera appears smaller than previous versions, a change introduced with the prescription-optimized Optics Styles.
Three Models, One Price Point
The Adventurer features thinner rims and a square frame, while the Fury adopts a bolder, chunkier design. A third model called Starfire, designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner, sports a distinct Y2K aesthetic meant to be worn lower on the nose. All three ship with the same core specs:
- 12-megapixel camera with ultrawide field of view
- Open-ear speakers and three-microphone array
- Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 platform
- IPX4 water resistance rating
- Up to 4 hours of mixed use on a single charge
Meta also launched a $59 Charging Stand that displays the glasses on a desk or nightstand while recharging. The stand costs $30 less than the existing charging case for non-Ray-Ban models and resembles a metal tube with a groove for the glasses.
AI and Software Updates Arrive
All new Meta Glasses ship with Muse Spark, the first AI model from Meta's Superintelligence Labs. The update also arrives on older Ray-Ban and Oakley smart glasses in the US and Canada via a software update. Meta says the AI now supports 14 additional languages, including Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin, Hindi, and Korean. Pedestrian turn-by-turn navigation is coming to displayless glasses later this month, along with a dynamic photo feature that automatically captures multiple frames and recommends the best one.
The launch marks Meta's first attempt to build a standalone smart glasses brand after years of co-branding with Ray-Ban. By cutting the licensing fee, Meta undercuts its own Ray-Ban models by $60 while keeping the same manufacturing partner. The move signals a broader push to make smart glasses a mainstream accessory, with AI features as the primary differentiator. Analysts expect the lower price point to accelerate adoption among users who balked at the $359 entry cost.
