About ZincSearch

ZincSearch is an open source search engine built for people who need Elasticsearch-like capabilities but don't want to spin up a giant cluster just to index a few million documents. It handles full-text search, faceted search, and auto-complete out of the box, using Go under the hood to keep memory and CPU usage remarkably low. You can run it as a single binary on a small VPS or even a Raspberry Pi.

It supports indexing data from common formats like JSON, CSV, and logs, and exposes a simple API that's compatible with Elasticsearch's ingestion endpoints. That means you can point your existing Beats, Fluentd, or Logstash pipelines at ZincSearch and keep working without rewiring everything. It stores data using embedded Bleve indexes or optionally backs into S3-compatible object storage. The project comes with a basic web UI for exploring your indexes directly from a browser.

ZincSearch was created by the team at Zinc Labs as a practical tool for developers who manage smaller datasets and just want search to work without a PhD in cluster tuning. It's free to use under the Apache 2.0 license and has built a modest but active community on GitHub with over 18,000 stars.
