WordPress started as a blogging platform in 2003 and grew into the most widely used content management system on the internet. The core software, maintained by the WordPress Foundation, is free and licensed under GPLv2. You install it on your own server or use a managed host. The block editor (Gutenberg) lets you build pages and posts by dragging and dropping blocks for text, images, galleries, forms, and more.
