About Virtuozzo
Virtuozzo is a virtualization platform that combines operating system-level containers with a Type 1 hypervisor, letting you run both containers and virtual machines on the same host. Originally developed by the company behind Parallels, the software has been around since the early 2000s and powers many hosting providers and cloud services. It supports Linux containers (including Docker images) and full VMs with Windows or Linux guests. The management interface gives you tools for live migration, snapshots, backups, and resource limits per container or VM. Virtuozzo also includes a software-defined storage layer and integrates with common automation and orchestration tools. The platform runs on CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux hosts. It is commercially licensed, with pricing based on the number of sockets or nodes. Virtuozzo Storage, a distributed storage component, is available separately.
