Sync-in

Sync-in combines a backup tool with a website builder workflow. It syncs your live site to a staging copy, lets you edit pages or rebuild sections, then pushes changes back. The platform supports WordPress, static HTML sites, and common CMS setups. You can restore previous versions from the backup history or use the staging site to test plugins and themes without risk.

The server component is open source on GitHub, written in Node.js. It uses rsync for file transfers and supports MySQL/MariaDB for database snapshots. Sync-in connects via SSH and can handle multiple sites from a single dashboard. Backups are incremental to save bandwidth and storage. The website builder part includes a drag-and-drop editor for non-developers, plus a raw HTML/CSS mode for advanced users.

Sync-in is aimed at freelancers, small agencies, and site owners who want a controlled deployment pipeline. The core backup engine is free and open source under the AGPL. Premium features like the visual builder and multi-site management are available in paid plans starting at $12/month. The project was started by a small team in Berlin and has been adopted by several European hosting providers.
