About Surfer
You can run ad-hoc backups or set up recurring schedules using cron. Surfer supports backup pruning policies to automatically remove old snapshots, saving disk space. It integrates with Cloudron's internal database to know which apps are installed and backs up their volumes accordingly. The tool is written in Go and its configuration lives in a single YAML file.
Surfer is aimed at Cloudron users who want an uncomplicated, scriptable way to manage offsite backups. It is open source under the MIT license. Development is led by the Cloudron team, and you can find the repository on Cloudron's Git instance. There is no GUI, so it expects comfort with the terminal.
