About Socialhome
The software is built with Python and Django on the backend, using a PostgreSQL database. Pages and posts support Markdown, and you can embed content from various sites. Socialhome integrates with the Fediverse, making it possible to follow and be followed by people across the network. It runs on Linux servers and is designed to be deployed with Docker for easier setup.
Socialhome is free and open source under a proprietary license that permits self-hosting and modification but restricts distribution. It was originally created by Jason Robinson (jaywink). For anyone wanting a federated alternative to a hosted personal site or a souped-up social profile, this is a thoughtful option. It requires comfort with server administration.
