About Sensu

Sensu is a monitoring event pipeline that collects telemetry from servers, containers, and cloud services, then routes that data to handlers for alerting, visualization, or storage. It uses a client-server architecture where agents run on monitored nodes and report to a backend cluster. The system supports both push and pull checks, can execute scripts in any language, and includes built-in support for Prometheus metrics. Filters and mutators let you transform events before they reach handlers like PagerDuty, Slack, or InfluxDB. Sensu Go, the current generation, is written in Go and designed for containerized and ephemeral environments. It integrates with Kubernetes, Consul, and etcd for service discovery. The project was originally created by Sensu Inc., which was acquired by Sumo Logic in 2022. The core is open source under the MIT license, with commercial features available in a paid tier. Sensu is a solid pick if you need a flexible, programmable monitoring pipeline that works across bare metal, VMs, and containers.
