About PrivateBin

PrivateBin is a self-hosted pastebin application that encrypts all data in the browser before it ever reaches the server. The server never sees the plaintext content, only encrypted blobs. This means the operator cannot read your pastes, even if compelled to hand over the database. It is a direct fork of ZeroBin, with ongoing development and security improvements.

The software runs on any web server with PHP 7.4 or later and supports SQLite, MySQL, or PostgreSQL for storage. Pastes can be set to expire after a certain time or number of views, and you can optionally password-protect them. PrivateBin also supports discussion threads, file uploads (up to 10 MB by default), and Markdown formatting. The entire interface is responsive and works without JavaScript for basic paste viewing.

PrivateBin is ideal for developers, journalists, or anyone who needs to share sensitive text or code snippets without trusting the server. It is free software under the BSD 2-Clause license, with an active community on GitHub and a public instance at pastebin.com that demonstrates the same technology.
