About Pomerium

Pomerium is a reverse proxy that sits between users and internal applications, enforcing access control based on identity, device posture, and context rather than IP address or network location. It replaces traditional VPN tunnels with a clientless approach: users authenticate through an identity provider, and Pomerium proxies requests only when policy conditions are met.

The proxy integrates directly with major identity providers including Okta, Azure AD, Google Workspace, and any SAML or OIDC provider. It supports features like TLS termination, route-based authorization, custom error pages, and session caching. Pomerium can run on Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, or behind a load balancer. It also includes a built-in certificate authority for internal traffic.

Pomerium is open source under the Apache 2.0 license, maintained by Pomerium Inc. It is well suited for organizations that want to protect internal tools, admin panels, or development environments without a full VPN. The project has seen adoption in both small teams and regulated enterprises.
