Pingdom monitors your website from probes scattered around the world, pinging your site every minute or so and alerting you the second something goes down. Beyond simple uptime checks, it tracks page load times, measures the performance of individual elements like images and scripts, and can simulate multi-step user transactions like logins or checkout flows. The dashboard shows real-time and historical uptime data, response times, and availability percentages, making it easy to spot trends or sudden slowdowns. Alerts come via email, SMS, push notifications, or integrations with tools like Slack, PagerDuty, and Opsgenie. Pingdom also offers a public status page you can customize and share with your customers. Rooted in a SaaS model, it covers HTTP, HTTPS, TCP, UDP, and DNS monitoring, with optional advanced checks for SSL certificate expiry and domain expiration. The service was originally developed by Pingdom AB in Sweden and later acquired by SolarWinds in 2014. It remains a popular choice for teams that need straightforward, reliable external monitoring without configuring their own probe infrastructure.
