Patchman

Patchman is a security platform designed specifically for shared hosting providers. It automatically detects and patches known vulnerabilities in popular web applications (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, PrestaShop, and others) across all accounts on a server without requiring customer intervention.

The core concept is proactive patching. When a security vulnerability is discovered in WordPress or another CMS, Patchman creates a patch and deploys it across all hosting servers running the affected software. This happens automatically, often before the customer even knows about the vulnerability. The patches are surgical: they fix only the specific vulnerability without modifying any other application code, minimizing the risk of breaking functionality.

Patchman also includes malware detection and cleanup. It scans customer files for known malware signatures, backdoors, webshells, and phishing pages. When malicious files are detected, Patchman can automatically quarantine or clean them. This reduces the operational burden of manually cleaning hacked customer accounts.

The platform integrates with cPanel, Plesk, and DirectAdmin through plugins, providing per-account security status visibility in both the admin and customer interfaces. Hosting customers can see their security status and take action on any detected issues. Administrators get a dashboard showing security status across the entire server fleet.

For hosting providers, Patchman addresses one of the biggest operational headaches: customers who never update their software. On a typical shared hosting server, a significant percentage of WordPress installations are outdated and vulnerable. Patchman keeps these installations protected even when customers neglect updates, reducing the number of hacked sites and the support burden of cleaning them up.

Pricing is per-server based on the number of hosting accounts, making it predictable for providers to budget. The security improvement and support ticket reduction often make it cost-effective even for smaller hosting operations.
