Passbolt

Open source password manager designed for teams with self-hosted or cloud deployment options.

About Passbolt

Passbolt is an open source password manager built specifically for collaboration within teams and organizations. It lets you store, share, and manage credentials securely while keeping control over your own data. You can choose to self-host it on your own infrastructure or use the hosted cloud version.

The tool uses OpenPGP encryption to keep secrets safe, and it integrates with browsers through dedicated extensions for Firefox, Chrome, Edge, and Safari. Passbolt also offers a command-line interface for automation, supports LDAP and Active Directory for user provisioning, and includes detailed access controls and audit logs. The backend is built on PHP with a MariaDB/MySQL database, and there is a REST API for custom integrations.

Passbolt is especially useful for sysadmins, developers, and IT teams who need a shared vault without sacrificing security. The community edition is free and open source under AGPLv3. Professional and Enterprise tiers add SSO, MFA policies, and priority support. It was created by Passbolt SA, a company based in Luxembourg.
