Paperless-ngx is a self-hosted document management tool that takes your scanned files, PDFs, and emails and turns them into a tidy, searchable digital filing cabinet. It watches a folder or consumes uploads, then uses machine learning to classify, tag, and date documents without you lifting a finger.
The system supports OCR for text extraction across dozens of languages, and it can match documents against custom rules for automatic categorization. It runs on Linux or in Docker, integrates with tools like Tika and Gunicorn, and stores everything in a PostgreSQL database.
