About paaster

Paaster is a lightweight, self-hostable pastebin that encrypts everything end to end before your content ever leaves your browser. You paste your code, logs, or any text, and it gets encrypted client-side with a key that is never stored on the server. The server never sees your raw data. This makes it a solid choice for sharing sensitive snippets without trusting the hosting infrastructure.

It supports automatic language detection for syntax highlighting, configurable expiration times, and optional password protection on top of the built-in encryption. Paaster is written in Python with a Vue.js frontend and uses Argon2id for key derivation with AES-256-GCM for encryption. You can run your own instance easily using Docker, and the official instance at paaster.io is free to use with no account required.

Paaster is open source under the MIT license, which means you can audit the code and deploy it on your own hardware. It is maintained primarily by WardPearce and has a small but active community on GitHub. This tool is ideal for developers and sysadmins who need to share logs, config dumps, or code snippets securely without trusting a third party.
