Open Source Event Manager for conferences, workshops, and meetups around the world.

About osem

OSEM is an open source event management tool originally built by the openSUSE project but now used by a wide range of tech conferences. It handles the full lifecycle of a event from proposal submissions and speaker schedules to ticket registration and check-in. The system is designed for single track or multi track conferences and supports custom branding per event.

The software is built with Ruby on Rails and uses PostgreSQL for storage. It integrates with BibBase for citation management and supports LDAP authentication. You can deploy it on any Linux server using Docker or directly with a Ruby stack. The tool also includes a payment backend that can work with Stripe for collecting registration fees or free ticket tiers.

This is a solid choice for community run conferences or any organization that wants to keep registration data under their own control. OSEM is free and open source under an MIT license. It was created by the openSUSE community and is still maintained by volunteers.
