About Octobox

Octobox is an open source tool that turns your GitHub notifications into a manageable inbox. It lets you filter, sort, and group notifications from issues, pull requests, and releases across all your repositories. Instead of drowning in email alerts, you can mark items as read, mute threads, or assign them for follow up.

The app runs as a self-hosted web service with a Ruby on Rails backend and a PostgreSQL database. It integrates directly with the GitHub API, supporting both GitHub.com and GitHub Enterprise instances. You can search notifications by repository, reason, or type, and take bulk actions like marking entire categories as done.

Octobox is ideal for developers and teams who get a high volume of GitHub activity. It's free and open source under the AGPL-3.0 license, with a hosted version available for those who prefer not to self-host. The project was originally created by Andrew Nesbitt and is maintained by a community of contributors.
