About Middleware

Middleware is an open source observability platform that gives you a unified view of your hosts, containers, and application metrics. It promises to get you set up in under two minutes with auto-instrumentation, no manual agent configuration. You get live dashboards for CPU, memory, disk I/O, network traffic, and an APM view that traces requests across services.

It currently runs on Linux and supports Docker, Kubernetes, and systemd. Middleware integrates with popular data stores like PostgreSQL, Redis, and MySQL, and it can ingest logs and metrics from existing exporters. The platform stores everything locally by default, keeping your data on your own infrastructure. The dashboard is built in React, the backend is Go.

Middleware is built for DevOps teams and SREs who want a straightforward alternative to SaaS-heavy monitoring stacks. It is released under a standard open source license, with optional paid tiers for features like longer retention and team access. The company behind it, Middleware HQ, has seen adoption among small to mid-size engineering teams looking for a self-hosted monitoring solution.
