About Limbas

Limbas gives you a web-based interface to design, manage, and query databases without writing SQL by hand. It wraps around PostgreSQL or MySQL and provides drag-and-drop form builders, dynamic list views, and a flexible rights system. The groupware feature adds email, calendar, and document management on top of the same database layer, so your data stays connected.

You can build custom database applications using the low-code tools, define relationships between tables visually, and generate reports in PDF or Excel. The software runs on Linux servers with Apache and PHP, and it supports LDAP authentication. Everything is accessible through a browser, and the GitHub repository offers the full source code under GPLv2.

This is a good fit for small to medium organizations that want their own database-backed intranet or departmental tools without paying for proprietary licenses. The project has been around since the early 2000s, developed by a German company that still maintains it actively.
