LedgerSMB

Open source double-entry accounting and ERP system with billing, invoicing, and financial reporting for small to midsize businesses.

About LedgerSMB

LedgerSMB is an open source accounting and ERP application that handles double-entry bookkeeping, billing, invoicing, purchase orders, and inventory management. It is designed for small and midsize organizations that need a full-featured financial system without per-user licensing fees. The application supports multi-company setups, multi-currency transactions, and configurable tax calculations.

The software runs as a web application on Linux servers using Perl and PostgreSQL. It offers automation for recurring invoices, payment tracking, and bank reconciliation. LedgerSMB integrates with shipping carriers, payment gateways, and external accounting systems through its plugin architecture. The interface is role-based, with permissions for accountants, sales staff, and administrators.

LedgerSMB is developed as a community project by a team of volunteer contributors and a small consulting company. It is released under the GNU General Public License v2. Organizations that need a self-hosted, customizable alternative to proprietary accounting software often adopt LedgerSMB. The project maintains detailed documentation and an active mailing list for support.
