About Inventaire

Inventaire is an open source platform that lets you catalog your book collection and share it with others. It pulls data from Wikidata and OpenLibrary to automatically fill in author, publisher, and cover details when you add a book. You can create multiple collections, lend books to friends, and see what others have on their shelves.

The tool supports importing from Goodreads, LibraryThing, and CSV files, making it easy to migrate existing libraries. It runs on Node.js with a CouchDB backend, and you can self-host it on your own server or use the hosted instance at inventaire.io. The interface is available in multiple languages and works on desktop and mobile browsers.

Inventaire is built by a small independent team and is free to use on the hosted platform, with no ads or tracking. The source code is available under the AGPL license for those who want to run their own instance. It is a good fit for book clubs, libraries, or anyone who wants a privacy-respecting way to manage their reading.
