About Haraka

Haraka is an SMTP daemon built on Node.js. It takes a plugin-driven approach to mail delivery, letting you assemble a mail server from a set of lightweight components. Out of the box it handles incoming and outgoing email with impressive throughput, often using less memory than traditional MTAs.

It supports a wide range of plugins for authentication, queue handling, spam filtering (through integration with tools like SpamAssassin or Rspamd), and custom header manipulation. Haraka runs on Linux and other Unix-like systems. Originally created by Matt Sergeant, the project has an active open source community and is used by several large ISPs and hosting providers.

Haraka is free and open source under the MIT license. It is a good fit for developers who want to script their own mail processing logic in JavaScript or anyone needing a lightweight, high-throughput MTA without the complexity of Postfix or Sendmail.
