FOSSBilling started as a community fork of BoxBilling after that project went dormant, and it has since grown into a full-featured billing automation tool. It handles recurring invoices, payment processing, order management, and client account management. The software supports over 20 payment gateways including PayPal, Stripe, and many regional processors. You can define custom pricing plans, automate invoice generation and sending, and integrate with hosting control panels like cPanel, Plesk, and Virtualmin to provision services automatically. FOSSBilling also includes a built-in support ticket system, a knowledge base, and detailed reporting. The admin interface is clean and straightforward, and there is a public client area that can be themed. Because it is self-hosted, you keep full control of your billing data and avoid monthly SaaS fees. The project is maintained by a volunteer community and is released under the Apache 2.0 license. It runs on PHP and MySQL or MariaDB.
