About dnsmasq
Dnsmasq is a slim, resource-efficient daemon that provides DNS forwarding, DHCP service, and network boot support. It caches DNS queries to speed up resolution, hands out IP addresses via DHCP, and can serve TFTP for PXE boots. It handles IPv6, DNSSEC validation, and supports conditional forwarding for split DNS setups. The entire configuration lives in a single file, making it easy to manage. Dnsmasq is designed to run on routers, firewalls, and other low-power devices. It is the default DNS/DHCP server in many Linux distributions and is widely used in home routers and IoT gateways. Simon Kelley wrote and maintains it. The project is released under the GNU General Public License v2 or later.
