About DavMail

DavMail acts as a middleware server that translates Microsoft Exchange protocols into open standards like POP3, IMAP, SMTP, CalDAV, and CardDAV. It lets you use any email client (Thunderbird, Outlook, Apple Mail) or calendar app with an Exchange server without needing Outlook or proprietary plugins. The software runs as a local proxy on your machine, intercepting requests and converting them on the fly.

It supports Exchange 2003 through 2019, Office 365, and even older versions. DavMail handles contacts, tasks, and calendar events alongside email. It runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS because it is written in Java. The project has been maintained since 2005 by Mickael Guessan and has no external dependencies beyond a Java runtime.

DavMail is free and open source under the GPLv2 license. It is ideal for organizations that want to ditch Outlook but still rely on Exchange servers, or for individual users who prefer open email clients. The software is lightweight, works offline with local caching, and has been downloaded over 10 million times since its inception.
