About Datadog
Datadog is a monitoring service for IT, DevOps, and engineering teams that pulls in data from servers, databases, containers, and cloud services. It started in 2010 and originally focused on cloud infrastructure monitoring, but they've expanded into application performance monitoring (APM), log management, real user monitoring, and security. You can build dashboards that visualize metrics from over 450 built-in integrations. It also supports distributed tracing across microservices, so you can follow a request through your whole stack. The platform uses an agent that runs on Linux, Windows, and macOS to collect system metrics, and it can pull from cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and GCP without an agent. There's a machine learning component that detects anomalies in your metrics and alerts you. The pricing is per host per month, with different tiers for infrastructure, APM, and logs. They have a free tier that retains data for one day and lets you monitor up to five hosts. Datadog is a public company based in New York.
