About cPanel Reseller (WHM)
WHM (WebHost Manager) is the server and reseller management layer of the cPanel ecosystem. While cPanel serves end users, WHM provides the administrative interface for server owners and reseller hosting providers to create, manage, and configure individual cPanel accounts.
For reseller hosting operations, WHM is the primary tool. Resellers receive a WHM account from their hosting provider that allows them to create cPanel accounts for their own customers, set resource limits, manage packages (hosting plans), configure DNS, and handle basic server-level tasks within their allocated resources.
WHM supports creating hosting packages that define disk space, bandwidth, email accounts, databases, addon domains, and other resource limits. When a reseller creates a new cPanel account, they assign it a package that automatically enforces those limits. This allows resellers to create and sell multiple hosting tiers without root access to the server.
The interface also provides reseller-specific features: custom nameservers, branding and theme customization, detailed bandwidth and resource usage reports, and the ability to suspend or terminate accounts. Resellers can view their resource allocation and track how much of their allotted server resources they have distributed to customers.
WHM integrates directly with WHMCS and other billing platforms for automated account creation. When a customer signs up and pays through the billing system, WHM creates their cPanel account automatically based on the ordered plan.
For anyone starting a hosting business, the combination of a reseller WHM account and WHMCS billing is the standard entry-level setup before graduating to VPS or dedicated server management.
