Carbonite Migrate

Carbonite Migrate moves physical, virtual, and cloud servers between platforms with minimal downtime and no application recoding.

About Carbonite Migrate

Carbonite Migrate is a server migration tool originally developed by DoubleTake (and now part of the Carbonite product family under OpenText). It lets you lift and shift workloads across hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V), physical machines, and public clouds like AWS and Azure. The core engine uses real time byte level replication to sync data continuously, then flips the production workload over to the target with a short cutover window. You do not need to convert disk formats or reinstall OS images. It handles both block level and file level replication, and can work over LAN or WAN connections. There is support for automated failover testing, scheduling for migration windows, and a centralized management console for multiple jobs. The tool supports Windows and Linux source servers. It is a paid product sold under subscription or perpetual license, not open source. Pricing depends on the number of migrations and the source capacity. Notable detail: it was used by many enterprises during the Windows Server 2008 end of life wave to move legacy workloads onto modern hosts.
