About Aastro

Aastro is a minimal static site generator that works from a single folder of Markdown files. No configuration file, no theme setup, and no build pipeline to maintain. It reads your content structure and generates a clean HTML site that you can host anywhere. The tool runs from the command line and produces output ready for any web server or CDN.

It supports custom templates written in plain HTML and CSS, and lets you define navigation through a simple metadata file. Markdown files become pages with automatic table of contents generation and code syntax highlighting built-in. Aastro also handles image optimization and RSS feed creation out of the box. The project is written in Go and compiles to a single binary for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

This tool is best for developers who prefer to work with raw files and want a no-frills site generator without JavaScript in the output. It is free and open source under the MIT license. Aastro was started by Starwalkn and has a small but active community on GitHub.
