High-capacity trans-Atlantic cable connecting Bilbao to Virginia Beach. When activated in 2018, MAREA carried more capacity than any other trans-Atlantic system. Owned jointly by Microsoft, Meta and Telxius (Telefónica). Path explicitly chosen to avoid the New York / New Jersey landing concentration most other cables share, reducing single-point-of-failure risk for both owners.
