Overview
RFC 9606, “DNS Resolver Information”, is a Proposed Standard document published in June 2024 by T. Reddy.K, M. Boucadair. The canonical text is published by the RFC Editor.
Abstract
This document specifies a method for DNS resolvers to publish information about themselves. DNS clients can use the resolver information to identify the capabilities of DNS resolvers. How DNS clients use such information is beyond the scope of this document.
What “Proposed Standard” means
An entry-level standards-track specification: stable, peer-reviewed and a solid basis for implementation, though it may still evolve before becoming an Internet Standard.
